“The Call of the Wild” by Jack London
Published in 1903, The Call of the Wild is one of Jack London’s most-read books, and it is generally considered one of his best.
The protagonist is a dog named Buck, who was previously a pampered, domesticated animal. But after after a series of events finds him serving as a sled dog in the dangerous, freezing during the days of the 19th century Klondike Gold Rush.
Later Hollywood adapted “Call of the Wild” into a film starring Clark Gable, Loretta Young and Jack Okie.
